Shifting Exercise Focus with Kettlebell Exercises, Aqua Zumba, and Aerial Yoga

By Rob Sutter

In the 1970s jogging was standardized as a workout. Heart attacks and heart disease were quickly increasing in the United States because processed and refined foods were more accessible. Physicians began to combat this trend by recommending regular cardiovascular exercise. Jogging became a new and fashionable way for Americans to exercise. Prior to the 1970s people did not run for fun or for exercise. They ran to escape ornery canines, schoolyard bullies, or to catch an early bus. But jogging gained a reputation as a fun and effective method for getting in shape. Kettlebells, kettlebell exercises, yoga, dancing, and sword fighting are becoming popular exercises today because people desire new and fun ways to workout. The current workout trends are geared towards having fun and simultaneously getting in shape.

Stroller equipment is catching on among new mothers. Stroller workouts are a new trend for mothers to lose weight and burn calories and fat. A recent study showed that stroller workouts are more intense and burn more calories when walking is coupled with stroller pushing than with just walking alone. The study shows that stroller workouts can burn 372 to 444 calories per hour which is close to the calories burned while riding a bike or mowing the lawn. Stroller workouts combine spending time with baby and spending time with friends. Mothers across America are assembling stroller workout groups with fellow mothers. It has proven to be a great way for moms to get out of the house, spend time with baby and friends, and get in shape.

Kettlebell exercises are beginning to become something of a trend as far as losing weight and getting into shape is concerned. The kettlebell possesses a distinct appearance, appearing as that of a cannonball so that ballistic exercises can be done to build on strength and levels of flexibility. Because of the efforts of companies like Lorna, people are becoming fit in a more rapid manner and, as a result, weight goals don't seem so distant. Both cardio and strength are built upon, therefore making them stronger. You can say goodbye to your common treadmills and free weights because kettlebells grant both intensity and a fun factor. There's enjoyableness to be had with these weights and their popularity levels have never been higher.

Aqua Zumba is another new trend in fitness that includes both dance and water aerobics. Aqua Zumba is a cardiovascular workout that is done in the water to Latin music. Exercisers who love Aqua Zumba have said that it is like being on vacation because it is fun and playful. Aqua Zumba loosens up the spine, diminishes stress, and burns calories fast. There is twelve times more resistance in water than in the air. The water supports ninety percent of the body so people with bad backs and other physical restrictions can more easily participate. Aqua Zumba is also something unique for athletes who might want to cross train and create strength in other areas.

Aerial yoga is one of the wackiest trends in exercise today. Aerial yoga is done by hanging upside down from ceiling in a fabric hammock. Aerial yoga facilitates exercisers to let their belly release, soften impact on the knees, and swing side to side in unison with breathing. Exercisers use the hammocks as a mechanism to lunge and stretch into positions with greater ease than they could on the floor. There are a multiplicity of benefits of the weightless poses such as strengthening the core, stretching muscles, helping heal injuries, and relaxation. Aerial yoga will also give you an entirely unique perspective on life and exercise.
