Information To Have About Screen Printing Whitehall PA

By Celia Hall

There are many different printing techniques to be found, out there, ranging from the traditional to the modern. Screen printing Whitehall PA is gaining popularity due to both its versatility and the fact that it is quite simple to do. It is done by having an ink-blocking stencil supported by a woven mesh, which the ink moves through to stain the fabric being used.

Ink is pumped onto the mesh through the stencil with the use of a squeegee or a fill blade. The stencil works by blocking off the parts of the screen that do not need to be used in the image being created. This makes it quite a simple method for printing, especially if your design is quite simple.

An emulsion makes the end result much neater when it is spread over the surface of the mesh before you start. This stops the ink from getting too messy and ruining the image that is going to be printed. An exposure unit is then used to burn away the emulsion around the staple.

This will be done on a surface that is protected. This way, the ink can be prevented from staining the surface and the canvas underneath. So the frame holding the mesh cannot be pushed out of its place and ruin the resulting print, it is taped in place.

The final step before you begin is to then make sure that there are no holes left in the emulsion that the ink can bleed through. For this, you will use tape, special emulsion or a block out pen to ensure that the emulsion no longer has holes. It is at this point when the ink is placed on top of the mesh and the fill bar is used to move it down so that it covers the mesh.

After this, the operator will lift the screen in order to prevent the ink from unnecessarily staining the fabric or paper, underneath with excess ink. After this, the squeegee will be used to press the ink that is now in the mesh opening down onto the intended surface. This way, the distribution of the ink is even and careful.

This way, how thick the stencil and the mesh are matches the density of the ink. The squeegee will be moved to the far end of the mesh, again, after it has been pulled to the bottom of it. The mesh will lift up and away from the surface, which helps protect the design, underneath.

This allows the design to be finished without the risk of any more ink falling down, again. Things that are printed with multiple colors will either be done with a wet on wet technique or with the colors dried on the press. It might be, however, that the ink is left to dry before the re-printing with the new color. Another screen will probably be used, here, so that the new shade can be freshly applied. Screen printing Whitehall PA can offer you a range of possibilities if you know how to do it.
