Fishing lights are an easy to make tool that helps fishermen draw in small fish. Often, the small fish become attracted to the shiny, bright light and as they swim toward it, they are usually noticed by other larger species who will follow and get entangled in the line.
Just a few low cost items are all that are needed to complete your project. You will need to get a flashlight. Because LED flashlights tend to stay cool, they are the most logic choice for this project. You are also going to need some of your fish line, sand, pebbles or small rocks and a plastic container of some sort that you are able to seal.
Once you gather all the necessary parts for your project, the process is quite quick and easy. First of all, take notice whether or not the container that you pick is too heavy because you do not want it to be difficult to remove from the water when you are finished with it. If the one you have picked does not already have a hole in the handle, you will need to create one so you will be able to put a line through it. When you are creating your hole, be really careful that no other part of the container gets punctured.
After creating the hole and running the line through it, test the plastic bottle to ensure that it is not going to leak. It is really easy to tell if a container is going to leak, just watch it when it is under the surface and see if you notice any bubbles. If there are bubbles, your container is taking on water and you will need a different container.
Once you have determined that the container you have is stable enough, place either some rocks, pebbles or sand into the bottom of it. This is so it will become weighed down and not simply float on the surface when it becomes submerged. Remember, while you do need to add some weight to it, do not add too much, it should be easy to pull out when finished with it.
Turn your flashlight on next, put it in the plastic sealable bag and then inside your prepared container. The bag is simply for the added protection of the flashlight, should it come in contact with water, it will not be as likely to be destroyed.
Close the cover snugly and make sure the fish line is still secure and lower it under water carefully. Once in the water, try not to disturb it too much because moving it might discourage your fish from coming close enough for you to catch them.
Two fishing lights are used by many fishermen. Using two at one time, within close proximity of each other will help create a larger area for attracting the fish. Remember, the types of creatures you are trying to lure are often very close to the surface so, you will want to keep your container relatively close to the surface as well.
