Helping Others When Confronted With Grave Danger

By Myels A Walker

Fred's sayings echoed within my head: You can't discount stun guns as defensive devices even though you think you will not ever have a need for one. Well, I was fairly certain it would serve me no purpose right up until that evening the moment I witnessed how two men beat a lady up that rejected to hand her money over.

I stood frozen in place while watching everything take place. Stun weapons are non deadly. If I had one right at that time, then one of those 2 bad guys would be in pain because of the electric shock, enough to be disoriented and lose his sense of balance. But incapacitation is non permanent, a couple of minutes at most. And there won't be any long term damage.

Probably, I might have no need to protect myself however I may have rescued somebody else from harm in case I brought one. What did Fred say? A stun weapon buys enough time to get away. And it just requires 1 to 5 seconds of contact on the neck, shoulder, belly or groin to actually zap the crook and then make a run for it.

Even a low voltage stun device having a gentler stunning effect would have handled those 2 thugs quickly given just enough contact on the right spot.

A 100,000-volt straight Stun Master stun gun would still have been a lifesaver in case I got one to utilize that evening. A one-second application could have meant 1 less bruise on the gal because the pain was very likely to stop the man.

Low voltage may imply less probability of harm to the opponent but the effect provides reprieve to the victim. At 4.5 inches, the straight stun weapon features a wrist strap so it would not just be bumped out of your own hand.

It is a little stun weapon, making it convenient to lug. And any weapon to protect yourself or someone else with is better than none.

Fred is right. I shouldn't discount stun devices when it comes to protecting myself or other folks outside.
