Pack Active Lifestyle Clothing For A Great Holiday

By Eliza Mendoza

You've booked your flight, you've mapped out a route and you have an idea of what you want to see and do. Now the only thing left before you can go on your trip is to pack. While jeans are always comfortable and versatile, they're not very practical for traveling because they're so heavy and bulky. With active lifestyle clothing, however, you can look stylish and be comfortable and your trip will be a breeze.

The type of clothes that you'd use for indoor activities like yoga is great for traveling too. A pair of yoga or jazz pants, for instance, looks good as everyday wear. It can also double up as sleepwear so you don't have to pack pajamas. Add a sweater or a hoodie and you're ready for cool evenings too.

Durable clothes for outdoors activities are important too. A pair of cargo pants with lots of pockets is a great option for hikes because it's strong and light and you'll have plenty of space to pack small items such as energy bars or sunscreen. Some pants can easily be converted into shorts as well, making them an even more practical choice.

An essential for any trip is swimwear. While tiny bikinis are wonderful for a beach holiday, you may also want to pack something more suitable for water sports. For women, a tankini with boy shorts is great because you can wear the top as normal daywear too while for men, a pair of boardshorts is one of the most versatile pieces of clothing you can have in your luggage.

Many people make the mistake of packing too many pairs of underwear. However, if you choose wisely, you won't need more than three pairs. Synthetic fabrics or cotton-and-Lycra blends are good choices because they dry very quickly. Women should also take at least one sports bra for activities such as hiking or horse-riding.

The one item you shouldn't neglect is your shoes. You'll likely do plenty of walking and you need footwear that is comfortable. Hiking boots are great but be sure you'll wear then often or they'll simply clutter your luggage. Many hikes can be done in good sneakers instead. Sandals with thick soles are perfect for warmer weather and for travel days. A pair of flip flops is essential too for when your feet need to rest after an active day. Besides, they're perfect for the shower.

Pack a pair or two of socks too. Wool is warm but takes ages to dry, so consider acrylic or a cotton mix instead. Another wonderfully practical accessory is a bandanna, which can keep the sun off your head, keep you cool and is a life saver when you didn't have time to wash your hair.

Good active lifestyle clothing is available from stores specializing in sports and outdoors equipment. You can also order it online. These days you'll find incredibly stylish choices too so that you will even have something to wear on a night out on the town.
