Walking alone at night is very risky and should be avoided because you may not be able to be in control hence the attacker may succeed in such an environment. However, if you have to walk in the dark and you sense that someone is following you, you should not show fear; rather let them know you are aware of their presence. You can call your friend or a family member so to scare the attacker away.

It does not involve contact and is good for women as it helps to improve speed, strength, faster reflex, flexibility, co-ordination and helps one to be able to protect herself from an attacker who is stronger and bigger than her. Most important, by learning taekwondo, you become, more alert and can avoid potential threat situations.

You can also take the aikido martial art technique. In this one, you will learn how to protect yourself without the need of a lot of physical movements and strength. Here the woman is tough on how to use their strength to defend the attacker. The lessons which are involved in the class are on mental alertness and flexibility. Here you will use the strength of the attacker against him to defend yourself without using excessive strength.

The other martial art technique you can learn is Kray Maga. The objective of this technique is to protect a woman or any other person from attackers who have weapons like knives or guns. It is a mixture of various martial art techniques like judo, karate, and taekwondo. Through this form of techniques, you can attack your enemy at their weakest regions and quickly disarming them.

There are also some tools which one can always put in their bag to use in case of an attack. A pepper spray can be used to spray in the eyes of the attacker to render him helpless. Ensure you it is not expired, and you know how to operate it. A whistle comes in handy in alerting people that you are being attacked. They are not very expensive but very helpful though you should make sure it is loud enough before you buy.
